In case you haven’t heard the news, on October 9, 2025, MetaMetrics® announced the launch of our new brand identity. This exciting announcement marks a significant step in our continued evolution and leadership in the education industry, and now that it’s live, I’m excited to share more about it.
In early 2025, we decided to take a fresh—and candid—look at our messaging, our website, and the face of our brand. And what we discovered was that, while our current branding served us well for nearly a decade, now was the right time to reenergize our brand and create space for new levels of growth, innovation, and leadership.
We engaged with our creative partners at The Lane Agency and our marketing consultant, Val Kennon, to modernize our logo, update our visual identity, refine messaging, and launch a new website. This body of work celebrates not only our rich legacy of collaboration, research integrity, and innovative, industry-leading frameworks for reading and math, but also our unwavering commitment to deliver measures that inspire.
Let’s take a look at the story behind our rebrand and the journey that brought us where we are today.
Why Rebrand…and Why Now?
At MetaMetrics, we believe our rebrand represents so much more than just a new look. For us, it’s about honoring where we’ve been, recognizing how we’ve grown, and embracing what comes next. It reflects our commitment to grow, innovate, and lead with confidence. And it reinforces our ongoing promise to provide universal scales for literacy and numeracy so everyone can build the skills and confidence they need to thrive in a changing world.
Our Lexile® Framework for Reading and Quantile® Framework for Math are well-established and well-respected in the industry. In fact:
- 600+ educational publishers certify content with Lexile and Quantile measures.
- 35+ million students receive Lexile and Quantile measures annually.
- 100+ million articles, websites, and books have received Lexile and Quantile measures.
However, while our Lexile and Quantile measures are well-known across the education ecosystem, the MetaMetrics brand lacks the same level of awareness (it’s not uncommon for a product to be more recognizable than the parent company). To overcome this challenge, we’re reintroducing MetaMetrics as our primary brand, with Lexile Framework for Reading and Quantile Framework for Math as our core product sub-brands. Elevating the MetaMetrics brand allows us to strengthen recognition and trust across everything we do without overshadowing the unique value of our measures. And, it will allow us to extend our offerings beyond our traditional measures into areas such as college, career, and life skills.
As we considered the reintroduction of the MetaMetrics brand, we decided that our visuals and website needed to evolve, too. Our refreshed logo, bold new color palette, and new website reflect our evolution as we extend our approaches to supporting literacy and numeracy globally, allowing us to tell a clear story of who we are, what we do, and where we’re heading.
What’s Changed?
We define our rebrand as a thoughtful evolution, not a complete reinvention. Our updated logo honors our roots by maintaining a measurement motif, underscoring the importance of building strong foundations in reading and math, the essential building blocks for life skills. The new logo also scales better at small sizes, which is important as we expand our digital footprint in social media and on the web.
Our bold new color palette represents our fresh, diverse perspectives and a confident path forward, while giving a nod to our edtech foundation. With a primary color reminiscent of “hyperlink blue,” we reinforce our long history of innovation that embraces the latest advancements in psychometrics, artificial intelligence (AI), and large language models (LLMs). New graphical elements, including the use of letters and numbers, reflect our research-based approach. And, because these elements include characters from other languages, they also highlight the global expansion of our frameworks into other languages such as Arabic and Spanish.
While our brand received a refresh, our website received a full redesign and rewrite. Not only did we launch a new site with new messaging, but we moved it to a new domain: MetaMetrics.com. Our new corporate site aims to bring clarity to the complexity of our measures, using short, animated videos and clear, concise copy to describe the value our Lexile and Quantile frameworks deliver to policymakers and partners, and through these relationships, to educators, families, and students. Our new site also provides clearer distinctions among our audiences, making it easier for our current and prospective partners to find the information they are looking for while clearly directing educators and families to the Lexile and Quantile Hub, which offers reading, math, and career resources to support students.
Our new messaging structure articulates the value for each audience using three pillars:
- Know your measure
- Create actionable narratives
- Inspire better lives
These pillars provide a consistent framework to tell our story, while allowing space to address the unique challenges each audience faces and articulate how MetaMetrics helps them to overcome these obstacles.
Throughout the site, we also spotlight a number of our state and commercial partners, reinforcing the reach of our impact and the depth and breadth of the partners we serve. And our employees, the “brain trust,” share their insights, experiences, perspectives, and research on important topics facing education today.
With the launch of our rebrand, I believe that MetaMetrics is well-positioned to expand its global reach, strengthen its relationships with policymakers, partners, educators, and families, and shape the educational journeys of students for years to come. Head to our new website to see our rebrand come to life.
